N&EMPF Archive and Memorial Book
Archive
The N&EMPF Archive consists of a collection of prints, slides, negatives, lecture material, publications and various miscellaneous items representing the activities of the Federation and its member clubs from the beginning of N&EMPF right up to the present time.
The print collection comprises over 200 prints (both mono and colour) from about 36 authors dating from 1931 up to recent times, the majority having been exhibited in the annual N&EMPF Exhibition and many bearing stickers recording acceptances and award-winners in National Exhibitions. The colour slide section currently includes work from 5 authors but is being expanded as additional donations become available. The
negative collection includes medium format gelatine negatives and some glass plate negatives and there are eleven lectures comprising mono and colour slides, some with accompanying lecture notes.
In the publications section there are a selection of club programmes, PAGB and N&EMPF Directories, a copy of every N&EMPF Newsletter from number one up to the present and, apart from numbers 1 and 2 (1955 & 1956) a copy of every N&EMPF Exhibition Catalogue.
Finally there are many miscellaneous items including individual member’s acceptance certificates, lecture notes, photo albums of N&EMPF events, magazine & newspaper cuttings, a history of Derby Photographic Society (2 volumes) and individual member’s awards.
The Archive is being expanded on an on-going basis as new material becomes available and is housed in the Rolls-Royce Photographic Society premises. Access to the Archive for legitimate purposes may be arranged by contacting the Archivist.
Memorial Book
The N&EMPF Memorial Book commemorates the lives of those who have made a significant contribution to the Federation during their lifetime. The book currently contains entries for 23 persons and is normally available for viewing at the AGM. In addition, the Federation organises a Memorial Lecture (free attendance) every year to honour the memory of those individuals, and indeed everyone, who has made a significant contribution to the Federation. Previously the Memorial Lecture has been presented as part of the Autumn meeting but as from 2012 it will be included in the Conference programme.
