This is now the 17 th event of this kind, how much longer they will continue
using old fashioned bits of colour transparency film in 2inch square mounts in this digital age I do not know, but this is an account of the 2007 event.
After the 2006 event only had 9 competitors, I was very pleased to receive 15 entries for this year, I was still happy when a few withdrawals brought it down to 12 and when they all turned up and submitted their first round slides before the time limit I had the impression that it was going to be a good afternoon.
With the judges Tony Pioli (left) and Bob and Sue Moore in position, round 1 started - 8 slides nominated in advance.

Round 2 was a further 8 slides, but chosen (or re-chosen) at this point, the total score for both rounds to determine who goes to round 3 and whose day is finished.
The final round, also known as round 3, was to comprise of 20 slides of which 10 had to be previously unseen, would this stretch some clubs beyond breaking point – all is revealed below.

So Worksop finally managed to get in front of Rolls-Royce (at 18 slides they were even on 219) - it is all a matter of keeping up the standard right to the end not almost to the end. Hopefully our two representatives at the National Final at Warwick in July will do well, but the opposition goes up a notch or two there. At the end all the slides having scored 14 or 15 were judged to produce the Best Slide which went to “Innocent” by Chris Upton of Nottingham & Notts a really well caught moment of some african children in a schoolroom.

Len White collect the best individual slide award, on behalf on Chris Upton (Nottingham & Notts PS), from Denis Shipman. |
Stuart Dobson (Worksop and District PS) collects the Best Club award from the 2007 Club Slide Championships |
It only remains to thank the judges and the team who did all the work – Chris Forster, Neil Malton, Peter Cheetham, Dave Gibbins and Dave Severn.

Knockout Administrator
PS – In case you think I am ever so slightly biased in writing this – I am also secretary of RRPS.
PPS – If you have some really cracking digital images, why don’t you get them transferred onto a slide and then your club can enter the knockout next year.
