Our Annual weekend, the 52nd in fact, was held between 20th & 22nd April 2007
Friday evening started with an evening supper before Phil Smith of Lincoln gave us a slide show ‘Don’t stop the carnival’, culminating in a visit to the bar.
Following an excellent breakfast, several workshops were held. Fantastic Monochrome prints by Arnold Hubbard from Sunderland. Tony Pioli from Buxton did natural history slides and a digital workshop by David Rowley from the Vale of Glamorgan completed the morning session.
The second half included landscapes by Tony Pioli with colour prints by Arnold Hubbard.
Some of the earlier sessions were repeated, in the afternoon and on Sunday to give everyone a good choice without missing out.
There were two portraiture sessions with Dave Severn of Beeston running alongside the various presentations.
Following a good lunch, the afternoon started with more workshops.
As is customary our President Eric Miller officially welcomed everyone, and then onto ‘Wild life – Wild Places’ a Natural History presentation by John Gardner form Wakefield.
There then followed a sherry reception and Dinner. Eddie Spence from Leeds gave us an Audio-Visual presentation entitled ‘A colour & Music Spectacular’, which lived up to its name.
On Sunday, following another excellent breakfast, more workshops followed and after coffee break Dr Julian Paren of the British Antarctic Survey gave us ‘Going South – The Antarctic Experience’ The views were overwhelming, stunning.
Sunday lunch, as ever, was very enjoyable after which everyone assembled for a group photograph. (Photographs of groups from previous weekends were on display, my how we seem to stay so young!)
It was a wonderful climax when Phil & Gwen Charnock of Wigan 10 fame gave us ‘Digital Creations’ We were then privileged to see Wigan 10’s FIAP World Cup winning pictures.
It is always inspiring to see other fellow photographers work.
A great weekend, with plenty for everyone, and yes we do it again 18 th to 20 th April 2008 at Broomfield Hall Morley, Derby.
