About the North & East Midlands Photographic Federation
The North & East Midlands Photographic Federation (N&EMPF) was originally founded in 1949 as N&EMPA then in April 1955 we were granted Federation status and the first Federation AGM was held on 25th February 1956. N&EMPF is currently made up of 46 photographic clubs/societies primarily in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
It is one of fifteen area federations which make up the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB). Each club/society in N&EMPF pays a subscription to be a member of N&EMPF who then pay on a proportion of this to the PAGB. In return for their membership to the Federation, clubs/societies receive a number of benefits.

N&EMPF organises a number of events each year
An Annual Exhibition with classes for colour, monochrome and nature projected digital images (PDIs) and prints, as well as individual print panels. Clubs also compete for four trophies based on entries from separate workers within the club. The selected prints are displayed during January each year and presentations containing the selected PDIs and prints are made available for Federation clubs to show their members. The Federation usually selects its entry for the PAGB PDI and Print Competitions from the Exhibition entries.
An Audio Visual and Photo Harmony Competition was launched in 2018 and is usually held in March.
The Inter-Club PDI Championship and Inter-Club Print Championship are usually held in March and May respectively. In both competitions the top 8 clubs progress to a final round, after which the 2 top clubs go forward to represent N&EMPF in the PAGB Inter-Club PDI Championship (July) or PAGB Inter-Club Print Championship (November).
The Memorial Lecture is held in October and was originally to commemorate the memory of Chris and Grace Newton, but was extended to remember all members of the N&EMPF Executive who had passed on.
