Rules and Conditions of Entry
The Competition
- The Competition is for digital sequences only designed to run as a .exe or .mp4 file, using a single screen and with a soundtrack.
- All entrants (and any collaborators) must be members of a North & East Midlands Photographic Federation member club.
- All collaborators must be declared. Collaborator refers to the production/direction of the sequence but does not include the script reader.
- Entrants may represent only one Club/Society.

The Competition will have two sections – “Narrative” and “Photo Harmony”.

Narrative
- A story or account of events, experiences, whether true or fictitious.
- There should be a clear commentary either written or spoken which should complement the images.
- Sequences should have a beginning, a middle and an end.
- Any music should be appropriate and complement the story and images.
Photo Harmony
- The main feature of sequences should be the relationship between the music and the images and how they interact one with the other.
- Illustration of songs can be used in this section but there must be no spoken commentary.
- Written words can be used but only to identify places/dates.
Entries
- Images should be cropped to a final size of not less than 1400 x 1050 or 1920 x1080 pixels (depending on aspect ratio). Entries created at a 1024 x768 can be entered but will show smaller on the screen.
- Sequences must be in .exe format or .mp4 and must be programmed with “no run” box. Shows produced in Pro Show Gold or Producer must not include a menu or Pro Show start up.
- At least 75% of the images in each sequence must have been taken by the photographer and any post-processing undertaken must be by the photographer.
- Video clips, taken by the photographer, may be included but must not exceed 10% of the running time of the sequence.
- For “Narrative” sequences the maximum duration must not exceed 8 minutes.
- For “Photo Harmony” sequences the maximum during must not exceed 5 minutes.
- Entries submitted must be clearly titled and identifiable to the Entry Form.
Copyright
- Entrants using copyright material must ensure that all necessary licences have been obtained – see www.theiac.org.uk
Judging
- The competition will be judged by an external judge familiar with this type of competition, the judge’s decision is final.
- For each section the audience will be handed a list of entries and they will be invited to indicate their favourite. The sequence with the highest number of audience votes will win the Audience Popular Vote Award.
Return of Entries
- Entries submitted via CD/USB stick will be available for collection on the day of the competition or by prior arrangement with the Competition Secretary or by SAE.
Conditions of Entry
- The submission of a completed entry form implies the acceptance of these Conditions of Entry.
- The submission also provides permission for the sequences to be shown in public at this Competition.
